I just upgraded my PMG 7.3 server to 8, and everything is working fine so far. The upgrade guide/wiki states the following:
I do have a main.cf.in in /etc/pmg/templates with custom changes and which was last updated in 2021, but I did not see any prompt about this file during the upgrade. Are...
Yesterday I upgraded my PBS installation from 2.1-2 to 2.3-3 and found that the datastore calculation was incorrect. Using the 'df' command, my datastore is 750G, with 700G in use, which is what the 2.1-2 installation also reported. Now 2.3-3 reports a size of 804GB with 751GB in use.
After...
Yesterday one of my VM backups resulted in the following verification error on PBS:
2022-10-13T08:06:20+02:00: TASK ERROR: unable to update manifest blob - unable to load blob '"/mnt/aabbcc/vm/450/2022-10-13T05:42:04Z/index.json.blob"' - No such file or directory (os error 2)

Is it also an option to iptables drop all inbound traffic on tcp port 80 (to block the letsencrypt verification)? Or is this port (inbound) also used for something else? I can then add a certificate expiration check in my monitoring system and renew it a few days before expiration by temporarily...
I've been testing PMG (7) for a bit, used the ACME certificate options in the administration GUI to generate a few certificates for SMTP domains. I also use DANE, which means I have to add a hash of this certificate to the DNS records.
Is PMG auto-renewing the letsencrypt certificates? If so...
It seems this was an issue with the cifs mount. I'm not sure how or why, but I was able to remove the file and snapshot directory on the machine where the actual partition was mounted. I then unmounted it and did an xfs_repair just to be sure.
SInce a day, prune and verification jobs are failing because of one old snapshot giving the following error:
2021-02-12T10:00:00+01:00: TASK ERROR: removing backup snapshot "/mnt/xxxx/vm/320/2021-01-17T09:02:39Z" failed - No such file or directory (os error 2)
Verify results in this...
I see it's possible to add a comment to an individual backup, but is it also possible somehow to add a comment to a Backup Group? All I see now are a list of ct/ID and vm/ID which means I need to maintain a separate list to match the ID to a server name. Alongside this, an option to...
Ah, ok. So if i want to restore an encrypted VM or CT on a PVE which creates unencrypted backups, I should attach the same storage to the PVE, but with a different name so that they don't mix up?
I wanted to restore an encrypted backup on one of my PVE servers, so I manually (via the command line) added the encryption key to the server in /etc/pve/priv/storage/ . I double checked to see if the GUI still shows "Do not encrypt backups" for this specific PBS storage, which it did...
The garbage collections are failing both from the GUI and CLI with the following error:
2020-12-13T20:32:31+01:00: TASK ERROR: unable to get exclusive lock - EACCES: Permission denied
I use a CIFS share as datastore. Backups are working. Prunes are working since version 1.0-6 (dev/test...
I just moved 2 openvz containers to my new proxmox server, but eventhough everything works (people can connect, see a website, etc), connecting with ssh from that container to the outside world shows the IP address of the host node instead of the IP of the container. The same thing happens when...
Re: Can someone explain what a live snapshot is and how it differs from a regular bac
That was what i was thinking at first, that the "vm-<vmid>-state-<name>.raw" file would increase. However, that was not the case, because the new data (WinXP) was larger than that. The timestamp, as well as...
Re: Can someone explain what a live snapshot is and how it differs from a regular bac
I just took it a step further, and did an "rm -Rf *" within the vm, freeing 2.7GB, and then installed windows XP. Then i rolled back the previously made snapshot. To my surprise, it returned my 2.7GB linux VM...
It may be a rather stupid question, but the reason is ask this, is that i created a Live snapshot of a test Linux KVM of about 2.7GB in size. When the live snapshot creation was done, it was about 350 MB in size. Then, i deleted around 700MB of data, and did a "Rollback" to the state before the...
