Proxmox VE popular in OVH Datacenters

A few years ago the softraid mod made by ovh was very unstable. If you updated the distribution at that time, the system was unbootable  Right now it works, I just updated from 3.3 to 3.4 on SYS softraid and it was working well

qCOW2 beats RAW performance in Windows Server 2012 under KVM

Maybe it is because you tested it with empty disk? An empty qcow2 disk image is very small, so it is very quick to browse

    Html5 vnc

TightVNC it's a lot better Guacamole needs java on the server, wasting at least 500mb of ram and a lot of cpu just because the admin does not want to install java or trying to fix the vm from the iphone does not make sense, in my opinion.

    VM shutting down

I updated to 1.6 with kernel 2.6.24 (other kernels are not bootable on my server, says that /lib/modules/2.6.34-xxxx-std-ipv6-64/ was missing and could not continue) but i still get the problem when too much ram is used. I assigned 7.2 gb out of 8gb to VMs, and then, VM101 was shutted down...

    VM shutting down

I know, but it's not so common to find a dedicated server with hw raid. It would be at least 4 times more expensive.

    VM shutting down

Do you know if this update is safe for the ovh version with mdadm and softraid 1? The last time that i tried to update from 1.2 to 1.4 the server was unbootable. I posted 3 times in the ovh forum, they did not give me a reply...

New Proxmox VE 1.6 kernels (2.6.32 and 2.6.35)

Problem: host keeps shutting down automatically

it also happen for my 2008-r2 host, but never happens for 2003... strange both hosts are using ide for hdd and virtio for lan since the 2008-r2 host has the biggest allocated ram, i was thinking that is the reason: when the ram is not enough, proxmox will shutdown the vm but i am using only 6gb...

Quad core with hyperthreading - how many cores to assign to VMs?

I am wondering, i have a core i7 with 4 cores and hyperthreading, so the system sees that there are 2x4 cpu I made some experiments, and I saw that running a VM with 2 cpu with 4 cores it's 10 times more expensive than a single cpu with 8 cores. The cpu has 4 cores + 4 virtual cores, in your...

    CPU Magic?

Ok, this is a really dumb question, but I am curious about this. If I have multiple cpu/cores, but I assign only one core to a VM, will be the load magically distributed on all the cores, or use just only one? And of course it's not possible to assign more cores than the physically present...
