New SAN - Dell PowerVault MD3200i

There might be one for each host but there are multiple on the storage... When one of those fails you still have available paths...

New SAN - Dell PowerVault MD3200i

Having all interfaces in the same subnet is possible if you use ifaces, that way you can bind a connection/session to an interface and use all interfaces available. Without it all traffic will be routed over the default interface for that specific network... Don't know if proxmox is using ifaces...

Which PVE kernel is most stable?

How about when using KSM, does the 2.6.35 kernel work better with that in comparison to the 2.6.32 kernel ?

    I/O and bandwidth limit

That doesn't matter... a separate disk, separate partition or lvm volume...they're all block devices and can be monitored using iostat... So the default way in Proxmox, lvm, can be monitored with iostat

    I/O and bandwidth limit

As far as I know it should be possible with the CFQ scheduler, at least Citrix does the trick with that scheduler...

Benchmarking storage and a KVM IO tweak

I've read some posts regarding IO performance of KVM guests and I got the feeling almost nobody did a decent benchmark / test before posting complaints. So below are some ideas to think about. Recently I did some testing with KVM on ubuntu hosts and we did some benchmarking and tweaking to get...

    Cloning in Proxmox VE

Since one of the advantages of virtualization is the ability not to install every server (vm) from scratch I tried to clone a linux vm using openvz containers. I've seen people asking for this option a few times on this forum so I decided to give it a try... Some specs of my vm : Type ...

    VZ and bridged network

Hi, We're planning to replace our current Xenserver platform for another solution that is a bit more flexible. Since we already played a bit with kvm we found proxmox and decided to give openvz a try as well. I am doing some tests right now using openvz. The goal is to run DirectAdmin control...

    ext4 as OpenVZ storage

Hi, I have been playing with a testserver and proxmox ve for a while now. My storage was originally configured with two luns, one for installation and one for vm storage. When I was planning to create a filesystem on the second lun for OpenVZ storage (I'm going to mount it at /var/lib/vz) I...

    Using different storages in OpenVZ

Doesn't openvz use a filesystem to store vm data ? If that's the case you could symlink the openvz dir to a dir on your new disk...

    OpenVZ Containers and DRBD

So it would be best not to migrate (or with a customized version of the vzmigrate script) but to stop it on the first host and start it on the second ? What about my idea to have one server as spare for a few nodes ?

    OpenVZ Containers and DRBD

Alright, great... I guess the configs can be on a DRBD replicated volume as well, symlinked to from the original location... or synced by cron + rsync I guess the clustering part in Proxmox prevents starting a container on two hosts ? Is it also possible to migrate containers using a DRBD setup...

    OpenVZ Containers and DRBD

I understand openvz can not work directly with devices... But it should be possible when I install a filesystem on a volume ? My idea is to use DRBD, LVM on top of it... for the kvm's proxmox will create the lv's.... But I would like to manually create one lv myself with an ext3 on top of it...
