Issue with LXC disk resize on PVE 5.2-9

Hi all. Having an issue here that's likely Debian, rather than Proxmox but figured I'd post here. I tried to resize a mountpoint on a Ubuntu 16.04LTS LXC container disk a couple of days back (through the interface). Resized the volume on the Nimble which backs it, ran 'pvresize /dev/sdx' to...

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Same thing happened to me-- Lost a ton of VMs to this as well. Only testing stuff mind you.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Yeah, it's a little concerning. I'd thought there would be some response to this thread from the developers.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Yeah, confirmed that on my side at least the issue has gone away. New machines can be migrated, and resized machines have their sizes accurately reflected. Many thanks for the work.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Thanks for that info dude, I'll try that on my test hosts and see if it solves it. Will report back.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Thanks for confirming that it's not just me, all :) So I guess the problem lies with either LVM or Open-iSCSI and isn't a Proxmox specific problem. I might try and find some support for that elsewhere to see if there's any kind of known issue here and will report back. Goes without saying that...

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Nothing? This works fine on PVE 4.4, VMWare and everything else that uses that Nimble as an iSCSI target.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

No, that's not the issue. The actual LVM volume that the VM sits on is being reflected as having two different sizes depending on which host it is migrated to. Only way I can see to fix that is to stop the VM and restart open-iscsi on all hosts which is obviously not a solution. Any other...

[SOLVED] Proxmox 5.0 - iSCSI + LVM unpredictable

Hey there, So I've setup up Proxmox 5.0 on a test cluster using LVM over iSCSI on a Nimble device. I set up a LUN and an LVM layer on top using the GUI and created a VM. Problem 1 : On migrating that VM to another node in the cluster, it errored out saying that the volume group wasn't...

100% swap usage on machine with 50% free RAM

Hey all, Running 4.4-13 as part of a 4 node cluster with a CEPH backing. On two of the hosts, I'm seeing 100% swap usage and tons of swapping even though only 226GB of 500GB of RAM is used. Other hosts show 0B swap used under similar load. Any idea what's causing this behaviour and how to...

Best practises for filesystems on iSCSI?

Actually, I've just realised the pitfall of my own problem. That I'll have single volume mounted on multiple nodes and have a split-brain situation. Hmm. So when using storage that only supports iSCSI (no NFS, no CIFS, no ZFS) what are the options for native snapshots, if any?

Best practises for filesystems on iSCSI?

Hi all, So one of the issues that I *think* we all face is the inability to take snapshots on the host side when using LVM over iSCSI. In my environment, I've added iSCSI LUNs through the interface, manually created a primary partition and an EXT4 filesystem on them, then mounted them through...

    Techniques for monitoring cluster 'health'?

Hi there, We've been using Proxmox in production for sometime now and are looking to expand our cluster. One thing I'm keen on monitoring is the health of the cluster, quorum and all. We use PRTG for monitoring so can use SSH scripts and other techniques for monitoring. We already monitor tons...
