Hi,

can someone please advise what is the most stable kernel to run KVM with
Linux guest only?

I just installed PVE 1.7 which natively installs kernel 2.6.32-4-pve.

After lots of reading I cannot figure out if I should roll back to an older
kernel, based on this:

http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Proxmox_VE_Kernel

I want to make sure to run the most stable environment for production, even
if I miss the latest features.

Regards

2.6.32 is the most used and the long term supported kernel.

Hi,
for me is "kvm and Linux only" not clear. If you mean without openvz, Tom are absolutly right. With OpenVz take the 2.6.18.

BTW. I use the 2.6.35 since the beginning (in pve, not pvetest) also in production - for me it's also stable.

Hi Udo and Tom,

thank you both for the information. I will stick with default kernel branch 2.6.32 for now.

With my post "kvm and Linux only guest" I wanted to say that I do not intend to use openvz or windows guest on kvm.

I plan to use Linux only guest (Debian and Ubuntu) on KVM and wanted to be sure to choose the right kernel for this
purpose, based on you experience.
