Freeze of the VM after live migration.

Hello,

Here is my problem :

I have DRBD and LVM working on my cluster.

When I migrate a KVM VM from master to node or from node to master, no error message appears and when I use the vnc to use it after migration, the VM is frozen.

I read on the forum that it's maybe related to the number of CPU sockets but I have only one on this machine so this solution doesn't work for me.

Tell me what you need to help me on this.

Thanks.

Valentin

do you have identical physical CPU´s on both nodes? what guest OS do you use, settings in VMID.conf?

and post the output of 'pveversion -v' from both nodes.

So, for the CPU's on physical servers, it's exactly the same configuration.

I'm using debian lenny on it.

VMID.conf :
name: vmtestmigration
ide2: local:iso/debian-507-i386-netinst.iso,media=cdrom
vlan0: rtl8139=E6:C8:AB:4E:A9:25

ostype: l26
ide0: stor_drbd:vm-104-disk-1
memory: 1024
onboot: 1
sockets: 1
/etc/qemu-server/104.conf (END)

pveversion -v from master :

srv01:~# pveversion -v
pve-manager: 1.7-10 (pve-manager/1.7/5323)

Thanks for the help!

I just tested a small one, no issues. I was connected via SSH and the connection keeps up during live-migration. do you installed X11/Desktop?

just tried with X11, Gnome desktop installed, also working here.

Hello Tom,

I still have this freeze, using vnc, or ssh, or....I can't ping it anymore.
I can see on the web interface that the migration is done, my VM is running like the others.

Hello!

I was sure it was a stupid problem and it is! I finally solved my problem..

Code:
srv02:~# dmesg | grep kvm
kvm: disabled by bios

I checked my first server and it was already enabled so I didn't check the second one ...

Thanks for your help!

thanks for feedback - sometimes its just that simple.
