Hi,

I have a win XP alone on pve server with regulard ping < 200ms, but in 24h have about 10 pic to 4 or 8 ms (ping from PVE to VM).

When i have pic, no load average, no IO no network trafic on PVE and VM, or very small one.

pveversion -v
pve-manager: 1.6-5 (pve-manager/1.6/5261)
running kernel: 2.6.32-4-pve
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 1.6-24
pve-kernel-2.6.32-4-pve: 2.6.32-24
qemu-server: 1.1-22
pve-firmware: 1.0-9
libpve-storage-perl: 1.0-14
vncterm: 0.9-2
vzctl: 3.0.24-1pve4
vzdump: 1.2-8
vzprocps: 2.0.11-1dso2
vzquota: 3.0.11-1
pve-qemu-kvm: 0.12.5-2
ksm-control-daemon: 1.0-4

Network :
E1000
Win driver Intel 8.10.3.0

In Windows i have a warnig message than tel me wrong MAC adresse.
Or my Mac adress is auto generat by PVE (BA:EE:04: D2:08:C2). (space for :D)

Maybe try a new MAC inside Windows?

In Interface Properties > Configure button > Advanced tab > Network Address,
There's a checkbox to select between 'Not Present' and 'Value', and you can enter a new MAC address in the 'Value' field.

Hi Udo, JustaGuy,

Windows dont have value in this case, try to put BAEE04D208C2, but message error from windows tel me than its not a good value.
ipconfig show me the right value BA-EE-04-D2-08-C2.
I hope i dont have to reactivate Windows if i change mac adress from win OS. thats why i cant test that on the week, have to wait the weekend.

Udo i dont have same probleme on ethO, no strang hight ping.
I gona try a VM with CDrescue and see if i have same isue on linux.
Regards,
Tes.

Udo,

I can confirm than have hight ping juste on Windows, sysrescue dont(same e1000 network card).

Check carefully if you do have duplicate MAC

I once duplicated vm's with the build in backup/restore mechanism, which leads to exact copies including duplicate MAC adresses.
To figure this out took me half a day...

Did you set MAC within Windows? Is that vm a clone and the original Windows machine still running?
Set a new one in /etc/qemu-server/<nr of vm>.conf

Hi Holgihero,

No, on PVE.
No its an windows install from CD.

Does Windows need a reactivation after changing MAC adresse ?

Tes.

AFAIK Microsoft does not publish rules when reactivation is needed, but maybe I am wrong.

Hi,

After some investigation, its look like, when vm writh more than 1Mo/s, some thing freez.

There is a big break on SDA wright, big break on md-2 wright, ping go up to 20ms and then a 100% loosing ping packet.

And user loosing connection from to this VM.

Then a lot off data come from the network, network down.

Do i have to try with Virtio network drivers ?

Regards.

Hi,

My ifconfig

give me :

vmtab102i0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr e6:02:57:91:2f:bd
adr inet6: fe80::e402:57ff:fe91:2fbd/64 Scope:Lien
UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:2304036 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:4208470 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 lg file transmission:500
RX bytes:646021772 (616.0 MiB) TX bytes:377045258 (359.5 MiB)

Its normal that this mac adress is diferent than this on PVE webadmin ?

Same for the other one VM.

Tes

and aways have pic to 8 ms, with no user and no activity on the network.
