Can I have a cluster where some nodes can see the SAN but others cannot?

Hi all,

I have 4 machines - three of which have NICs to the SAN but the other one doesn't (it has local storage).

Is it safe to add the SAN-less one into the cluster? Will the fact it has different networking (it is still the same network) break things?

Thanks,

Col

Hi,
that's not recomendet - you got trouble, because proxmox tried to access the volumegroups on all nodes, which will fails on the node without san-access.
You can do some dirty tricks - e.g. create a volumegroup with the same name on an usb-stick on the san-less node.

Different network-config will be no problem (imho).
