Hi all,

we have in syslog the error message of over 1000 lines:

Code:
kernel: EDAC MC0: CE row 1, channel 3, label "": (Branch=1 DRAM-Bank=2 RDWR=Read RAS=22111 CAS=572, CE Err=0x2000 (Correctable Non-Mirrored Demand Data ECC))

the memory is correct and works fine without errors. what is this for a error and what we can do here? please help. thanks.

regards

what happens if you take the memory stick out? It could be that the stick is faulty but the ECC is fixing it and that is the warning message ;)

Hi Udo,

i have check the ram. it´s ok. no errors. Thanks.
Hi,
AFAIK memory tests are not able to find ecc-errors. The output is ok.

It's like an raid-5 with one failed drive - you can read and write data without trouble, but if one further drive fail the data is lost.
The same is with ecc - the memory can reproduce the right content but if one more error occur you have trouble.

And if one drive in an raid-5 fails, you will change the failed drive - or not? This is the reason why i recommend to change the memory.

Udo
