I have imported a Linux guest from a VMWARE server 2.0, converting the vmdk to a raw image with the command "qemu-img conver...".

The Linux guest is running debian 5 with kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Mar 4 21:48:06 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux and is now using 1 socket and 2 cpu (with the default qemu64 cpu type) and 2 Gb of RAM.

All is running well, but .... the Linux guest sometimes freeze and from the PVE control panel I can see the CPU going above 100% (I can read 120 - 130 % sometimes !?!?) and the only solution is to reset the guest.

I have updated the kernel, with the kernel coming from VMWARE, the VM freeze about every 5-10 minutes, now with the current kernel (without any trace of vmware-tools) the system is more stable, but I have the problem about 1 time a week...

Any idea ?

Best regards
Piero Baudino

try a 2.6.32 kernel inside your guest (from lenny-backports)

Many tnx Tom!

Just installed:
Linux XXXXXXXX 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Sep 23 10:07:46 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
