Hello.

I have just installed proxmox on a new Supermicro server which uses a 4 port Intel i350 Gigabit Network card. The problem is that the latest version of Proxmox does not seem to have network drivers for this card.

Can you confirm if these will be added in the future or if there is an extra package I can add to fix this?

Thanks,

which driver module is needed for this card? as far as I see its igb and we already have the latest included. we no such card here in our lab, so we cannot do any test.

can you test with other linux distros and report which one is working?

Looking online it needs igb-3.4.8 but I am not sure if the standard Proxmox 2.1 ISO includes this driver as standard.

Its odd as the network card does partly display in the o/s but as soon as the o/s loads all the lights go off and the connections show no link, though all 4 do display.

Can you confirm does the ISO have this version or do I need to manually upgrade the kernel?

Looks like I am going to have a few issues with these new servers. I just tested Centos and again in the installer it picked up the network card but when I attempted to use it to install the o/s I got: There was an errir configuring your network interface.

Looks like none of the linux platforms have support for this new intel chipset yet: Intel I350-T4

...bumping this thread.
Driver version 3.4.8 from the link above is out now.

I am particularly interested in employing this NIC for testing with the SR-IOV feature that should work along with the igb driver.
...at least as far as specs are concerned.
I am currently testing with Openindiana and Solaris11 where virtio drivers are not available for kvm guests and the e1000 sucks.

...anybody can report a success in using SR-IOV with PVE? Here's a howto for a redhat based system and a X520 controller-NIC: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/ww...s/ethernet-x520-sr-iov-red-hat-tech-brief.pdf

Thanks Dietmar for the update...

..I'll probably create another thread for the SR-IOV topic then...
